When it comes to microneedling, adjusting the speed setting is just as important as choosing the right needle depth. Each level controls how fast the needles move in and out of the skin. A higher speed means quicker motion, shorter treatment time, but also more intensity—which can be risky if not used properly.

Speed Levels Overview
Most microneedling pens have adjustable speed settings. For example, a typical six-speed device may have the following RPM (rotations per minute):
- Level 1 – 8,000 RPM
- Level 2 – 9,000 RPM
- Level 3 – 10,000 RPM
- Level 4 – 11,000 RPM
- Level 5 – 12,000 RPM
- Level 6 – 13,000 RPM
How to Use Each Speed Level
Level 1–2 (Lower Speeds)
Ideal for superficial treatments, such as hydrating the skin, minimizing fine lines, and everyday skincare routines. These speeds are gentle and perfect for regular maintenance.
Level 3–4 (Medium Speeds)
Suitable for deeper treatments, including tightening the skin and improving the appearance of acne scars or enlarged pores. These speeds provide more penetration, so it’s important to be confident with your technique.
Level 5–6 (High Speeds)
These higher speeds are rarely used and are typically reserved for more serious concerns like scars or stretch marks. We recommend leaving these levels to professional practitioners, especially for first-time deep treatments.
Beginner Tips
If you're new to microneedling, it's best to start with Level 1. The slower speed gives you more control and reduces the risk of skin irritation or damage. As you become more comfortable and experienced, you can gradually explore higher speeds based on your treatment goals.
